The content of articles published on emcp.org or associated media1 is based on the guidelines of the Austrian Press Council. These ethical principles include the following standards of conduct2:
- Accuracy
- Distinctness
- Inadmissible external influence
- Protection of personality
- Protection against blanket denigration & discrimination
- Special editorial areas
- Public interest
EMCP recognizes the freedom of the press and media enshrined in the German Basic Law / in the constitutions of numerous (European) countries and in the UN Charter of Human Rights. For EMCP, freedom of opinion ends with unproven allegations, defamation, offensive statements and sensationalism. EMCP protects privacy and promotes equality, factual and professional diversity.
This also includes a responsible and open approach to the use of artificial intelligence. All content is checked in accordance with these principles before publication, without exception.
The following applies in principle:
- All content, especially content created with the help of AI, is checked, revised and approved by a human being. Humans alone retain control and assume responsibility for publication (‘human-in-the-loop’).
- Content created with the help of AI is uniformly labelled.
- The use of AI must demonstrate clear added value for our content (research, optimisation of processes, etc.).
- Our data and sources remain protected at all times.
- To further develop and improve our use of AI, we also collaborate with universities, colleges and research institutions to network our knowledge and benefit from each other.
We are aware that the use of AI consumes enormous amounts of energy and therefore try to minimise its use in the interests of sustainability and ‘grandchild-friendliness’.
We dynamically adapt our rules to the applicable law in Europe3 and Austria.
